Thursday Links: Pretty Pretty Prints Edition

1. The 100 Most Insane Patterns on The Mindy Project in Order of Insanity: Mindy Lahiri is notorious for her prints and if you didn't already know that, take a gander at this slideshow for a full on spectacle of stars, stripes and spots. Some of the descriptions are a little harsh, but I guess they are in keeping with the tone of the article. Also, we'd be happy to have any number of these prints in our wardrobes!

2. Bold Prints for Your Screen: Wanting to add a little print action to your everyday life, but not bold enough to take it to the Lahiri level? Well, check out these Desktop Designs from Design Love Fest to add some colour to your computer!

3. The dream lives: A feminist professor at Rutgers is teaching a class about Beyonce. One of these links had to be about Our Queen. Read the piece here. Time to go back to school?

4. And to the Ladies Who Rocked Plaid & Ruled the School: CLUELESS FOREVER. It's almost Friday, which means it's almost time to waste your afternoon surfing the web with no end in sight! Start with this Clueless Quote Quiz. We got 100%, like duh.

Tuesday Links: Aspirational Edition

Well it's almost October and what have you accomplished? New Years is right around the corner and, no doubt, we will all be looking back questioning our every choice. I'll tell you one thing: the ladies we mention below will not be questioning their choices.

1. Best Headline Ever: "Internationally acclaimed barrister Amal Alamuddin marries an actor" from The Business Woman Media. RE-SPECT. From the article:

Amal Alamuddin, a 36 year old London-based dual-qualified English barrister and New York litigation attorney who has long been a high-profile figure in international refugee and human rights law has gone against the trend for professional women in her field and married… an actor.

Read the article here. Let's celebrate this woman for something other than her clothing & choice in romantic partner.

2. Dreamy Celebrity Homes: You've probably already seen SJP's impossibly gorgeous NYC home. It recently went on the market and took the internet by storm a few weeks ago. But just in case you haven't and have a strong desire to feel even worse about your futon and Lack side tables…check it out here. Also recently revealed is Michelle Williams' stunning pad.

3. Celebrity Crushes for Feminism. Emma Watson's UN speech was all (the well deserved) rage last week and ever since some adorable famous faces have been lending their support to the #HeForShe campaign. Nothing is sexier than a man getting his gender equality on, so prepare to swoon your feminist heart out here. We love that this campaign is making waves.

Happy Tuesday!

Tuesday Links: Bonjour Hotties Edition

Well, that big soccer tournament is finally over and now we can finally focus on the next athletic competition of international import: On The Run Tour HBO Special. It's not airing until September, but trust, we will be getting our Team Carter jerseys and Yoncé flags steam cleaned. Check out the trailer here. On to the links!

1. 38 Hot French Dudes To Celebrate Bastille Day: Ok, so Bastille Day was yesterday, but let's just enjoy and not constantly nit-pick, ok?? There are some PRIMO HOTTIES on this list, and some just-oks, but the Europeaness does add a certain allure. Check 'em out here. Bonus link: If you don't already know the magic that is MC Solaar, you will certainly recall the SATC finale featuring the song La Belle et Le Bad Boy. Oh the memories! Check out the clip here (in French no less!).

2. Desperate Comcast Rep Refuses to Cancel a Customer’s Service: Now to counteract all the good feelings that last link generated, feel free to listen to the call featured in this story on Slate. We've all been there, but this call is particularly demoralizing, if not extremely entertaining.

That's all for today folks!

Wednesday Links: Eye + Ear Candy Edition

Do you need a break?

Are you stressed?

Do you want to relive the past and learn new things?

Well, here we present to you some fun stuff on the internet!

1. What Ikea Looked Like 50 Years Ago: It's no secret we are big time Ikea lovers, so we were delighted to see this retrospective of Ikea through the decades. Can you believe there are people on this earth who have never even been to an Ikea, let alone enjoyed an Ikea meatball?!?!? Also, who knew the Lack side table has been around since the 80's? Keep up the good work Ikea.

2. Stream Carefully Curated Jayoncé Radio Playlists: Colour us excited! Tonight is the Toronto On The Run concert and we could not be more thrilled. These playlists are simply fanning the flames.

3. See all the times OITNB actors appeared on Law & Order: This one is just good old fashion fun! It's always neat to watch old eppies of L&O and see future stars.

Friday Links: 2 Beys and Some Other Ones

1. Dramatic Readings of Beyonce Songs: This may be one of the greatest things to ever grace the intertubes! Actress Nina Millin gives If I were a boy, Irreplaceable and Mine the poise and respect they deserve. We can only hope there will more of these videos to come.

2. Michelle Williams' New Song Say Yes: It's formidable effort, and we gotta give her props for a not horrible Jesus loving song. Her voice seems to have improved a touch. But alas, Beyonce straight-up steals the show with that hair and goddess-like ensemble. AMEN! Keep on clappin' Michelle! Ride those glorious coattails as long as you possibly can.

3. It's A Quiz About OITNB: We had you a quiz right?!? We are this close to being done the second season, and it's all we can do to leave work immediately to find out what happens to Red! This quiz on matching inmates with their crimes will have to keep us going unit closing time.

4. Mindy Khaling Has a New Book On The Way: We are pretty pumped about this since we quite liked her first book, Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?. Read a bit about her next literary endeavour here.

Happy Friday punks!

Friday Links: TGIF Edition

Happy afternoon comrades!

Today's links don't have all that much in common, but they sure are fun! It has to be said, what this blog lacks in depth, it more than makes up for in Beyoncé. Tally-ho, on to it!

1. Orange Is The New Black gets the Arrested Development treatment: Watch OITNB credits Ă  la Arrested Development here. It's pretty great. New season starts streaming TODAY!!!!! Bravo Netflix. (Although, makes me feel a little funny since it brings back the 4th season of AD…)

2. 8 Insanely Lucky Flea Market Finds: These are actually pretty unbelievable. Check out the list here. It finally might be a good time to help your grandma clean out the cold storage!

3. Dreaming of this dreamy loft of my dreams: Do you have loft-envy?? One of us actually lives in her very own old factory loft…the other does not. Anyway, this loft is divine. I'll live in a loft one day. MARK MY WORDS.

4. The Bachelor's New Summer Fling: Bachelor in Paradise. What a name! Well, I think it's pretty obvious that this reality show will be a SMASH HOME RUN. Or will be super boring and depressing, either way, we are tuning in FOR SHIZZLE. Clare from Juan's season debacle will take part, and the infamous Ben Scott from Desiree's season will be there. We were secretly hoping for Desiree's badass brother, but I don't think ABC would be able to control him as easily as the rest of these schmucks. See the scoop here.

¡Feliz viernes muchachos!

Friday Links: Funny Ladies Edition

We realize we haven't posted in some time. But now that we have secured tickets to On the Run, we are back in the saddle sportsfans!

For today's links, we present to you some straight-up hilarious women.

1. Ilana Glazer's YouTube show: For those of you who already know and love Broad City (if you haven't yet watched, we just don't even know what to say to you), you'll go nuts for Ilana's YouTube show Chronic Gamer Girl. She interviews randos, talks about and plays video games, and just basically rambles and it's really good. Since Broad City's first season is over, we are soaking up all the internet has to offer by these two chicas. Truly delightful stuff.

2. Showtime's Women Who Kill: A standup special on Netflix ya'll! Starring Amy Schumer, Rachel Feinstein, Nikki Glaser and Marina Franklin. Amy Schumer's part is pretty standard (good) and Nikki Glaser jokes in a very similar fashion. Marina Franklin, however, really stands out. We were laughing pretty hard. Check out one of her bits on YouTube here.

3. Jessica St. Clair and Lennon Parham's new show Playing House: The pilot was a little rocky, but we liked the second episode and, based on the pair's first stab at a sitcom (Best Friends Forever) we think it will only get better. These two make a great team and we still aren't tired of female friendships driving the plot. Along with Girls, Broad City, Parks and Rec, and even Orange is the New Black, we think female focused sitcoms don't always have to revolve around romance.

Happy Friday folks. Keep on chucklin'.
Us

Friday Links: Because Internet Edition

Well, it finally looks like winter 2014 is behind us. Thank Beyoncé.

Today we are sharing with you some super fun stuff we found on the Internets guys!

1. One Star Reviews of Classic Literature on Amazon: The title of this tumblr speaks for itself. The Internet really brings out the best in people…

2. Flat Vs. Realism: This website is dedicated to illustrating the battle between flat vs realistic design aesthetics. You might not really care, but it totally affects you since you use websites and apps like all the time. Graphic designy artsy fartsy pretentious snobs (like us) will totally get it and have all kinds of opinions.

3. You can use Emojis on Twitter Now: HIP HIP HOORAH! Three cheers for Twitter and the internets! Anyway, this should open up all sorts of fun things. For example using the classic Emoji of two women salsa dancing in red dresses will save you upwards of 20 characters when describing your girls only Saturday night apartment dance party. #win

4. And naturally, we will finish this Internet post with a cat video. Enjoy chums! We never get tired of supporting the Viral Cat Video industry as a whole.

Friday Links: EL OH EL Edition

Well, it's been a confusing and offensive week. We mean weather-wise of course. Mother nature is a triflin' prankster!

If you're like us, you're looking for a quick and painless pick-me-up (and you don't wanna leave your house…). So, here we present to you some hilarious links to get you started on your winter-weather-sadness recovery.

1. Comedy Central's web series turned real TV series Broad City: This show is so fucking hilarious, we can barely keep our shit together and we are finding ourselves using gratuitous expletives. These two gurlz are just that funny. We like to think of this show as an amalgamation of Inside Amy Shumer and Flight of the Conchords. We *highly* recommend. Get it?!?! Watch the episodes here.

2. The most amazing spoof of the Bachelor, Burning Love: Don't get it twisted, we love the Bachelor franchise and everything it stands for, but we are also aware of how totally batshit most of the contestants are. The E! web series Burning Love represents everything we love to hate about the show and it's spot on. You will recognize a ton of the actors from Joss Whedon shows. We are particularly fond of season 2, Julie's season. Check out some of the episodes here.

3. Drunk In Love is a great song/video, this spoof is just as amazing. Obviously, we love a good spoof and totally consider it an art form. Dunkin Love is freaking hysterical. Watch the video here and go get yourself some Dunkin Love. BONUS VIDEO: The emoji edition of Drunk In Love is oddly satisfying…

Have a cheerful Friday!
Us

Tuesday Links: After Oscar Edition

When not navigated carefully, the Internet can suck you into a veritable post-award-show black hole. There is A LOT to look at; for instance you could spend easily 3-5 hours just looking at Jared Leto hair posts (better to not ask how we know this). Two days post-Oscar, here is what we thought worthy of your precious time.

1. The best party photos to come out of theVanity Fair Oscar Party. Feel free to write to us if you know where we can purchase that Hollywood Issue inspired lamp shade. Check out these stunners while you're at it.

2. You can Travoltify your name here. We are Laurence Hernt & Christian Wailson.

3.This could have saved you a lot of time on Sunday and that hangover on Monday.

4. Stay strong Leo.

5. Cate Blanchett is terribly trusting. Also we would have died and immediately broken out in the speech we've been perfecting since age 5.

6. Peter Nyong'o was out there living your dreams all award season and you had no idea.

Monday Links: Let's Read Edition

1. Trailer for what can only be a hilarious venture: B.J. Novac has released a trailer for his new book One More Thing. It's pretty great. So apparently celebrities now make trailers for their books...?!? Whatever, we're not complaining. I mean, I know it sounds like we are complaining, but we definitely aren't...

2. The Lena Dunham book is happening: Life imitating art or the other way around? Hmmm? We dunno what to think anymore. Anyway, her real life book is coming eventually and here are some thoughts on that. Check out this cool/weird interview Lena did with the great Judy Bloom.

3. Vanity Fair Hollywood Issue: If books are too many words for you, take a gander at the annual Hollywood issue of Vanity Fair. These are some HOT (equally talented!) people, guys. Check out the sneak peak here.

Tuesday Links: Golden Globe Wrap Up Edition

The Golden Globes are officially over and thanks so much for caring about what we had to say yesterday! Now it's time to care about what other awesome people had to say (or what we forgot to mention). We're particularly obsessed with the above picture of the Michael Fassbender and Benedict Cumberbatch dance off! Happy surfing.

1. Best of the Celebrity Instas! You'd also be Instagramming your little hearts out if you'd been there, #nofilter needed!

2. Mandatory RC Uniforms!? Pretty sure we'd still be asking who wore it best.

3. Tina and Amy's Opening Monologue. 'Cause why not watch them kill it over and over again??

4. Great recap courtesy of GQ. We'll be tucking some of these memes away for later.

5. So, Jared Leto's trendsetting look is the equivalent of how my hair looks like when I'm letting it air dry. Go figure.

6. The photobomb heard around the world. Or the single most important photo from the red carpet. According to Ryan Seacrest anyway.

7. Bradley and Leo. Are you obsessed with this friendship yet, inappropriately aged supermodel girlfriends aside.

8. Party Timeline. Because celebrities are just like us, they get drunk and dance to Blurred Lines.

9. Backstage Polaroids! Adorable.

Links: Fail-Proof Recipes We Love

In the interest of full disclosure, we want you to know we are not professional cooks and did not invent the following recipes. They are simply a short list of dishes that we have made multiple times and always turn out heavenly. Amen sister friend!

For those of you that have some extra time around the holidays (Jewish?) and, coincidentally, are not naturally gifted in the art of cooking, give these guys a try!

1. Roasted Vegetable Enchiladas Casserole: Making this casserole is chief among my accomplishments. This healthy and tasty recipe takes a bit of prep, but it's worth the extra muscle! It's great to make for a relaxed dinner party.

2. Zucchini Fritters: This recipe smugly calls them courgettes, but that's fine. They are delectable little crowd pleasers and an impressive side dish! We are toying with the idea of making these Christmas morning accompanied by a fried egg.

3. Lentil Soup: This one is super easy and you'll be eating it for days. I like to add cumin and potatoes!

4. Shrimp Summer Rolls: Don't let the name fool you, these are great year-round. If your grocery store is of the fancier variety, they probably have a raw shrimp bar, mine carries coconut Thai flavoured shrimp and it's to die. AND constructing summer rolls is a fun group activity, duh.

Happy Friday superstars!
Caitlin

Thursday Links: Time Wasters Edition

Guys, it's been a longgggggg week for us too.

With the holidays coming up, you might find yourself at your parents' house with not much to do...especially if you come from a smallish town. Well, as long as you have Wi-Fi, you can catch up on some mindlessly fun Internet stuff! Here are some links that we are particularly addicted to. WARNING: Do not visit these sites if you don't have at least 20 minutes of unadulterated free time, they are serious rabbit holes.

Cute Overload: This can't be the first time you're hearing about this site. It's been around for a few years and we do not wish to publicly declare how many minutes, hours, days we have spent on it.

Passive Aggressive Notes: We just recently heard about this site and it has become a daily read! Described as "funny (if not necessarily "passive-aggressive") notes from pissed-off people", this site is really doing it for us. We've all seen notes like this around the office or your apartment if you live with roommates. The difference between us and them: we aren't crazy enough to actually leave the psychotic notes we have drafted in our minds. In all honesty, I got to page 14 before closing the tab…by accident.

Things Fitting Perfectly into Things: This one might not be for everyone, but there is something special about seeing this stuff that brings us a little peace. Maybe this world isn't such a bad place after all. See above image for a truly inspiring fusion.

BONUS LINK!
Friends Quote Quiz: Just for funzies!

Take pride in your browser history! Peace!

Monday Links: Mini Edition

It is a truth universally acknowledged that I, Caitlin, love all things miniature. This obsession goes beyond the obvious (doll houses, Polly Pockets) into the extraordinary. Please enjoy the below links to view some adorable unexpected miniatures!

1. PetitPlat Miniature Food Art (shown above): Not only are these little foodscapes too charming for words, you can actually buy them through the artist's Etsy shop! We are dying the for the sushi minis. We can only assume this type of art (and jewellery!) exists purely for weirdos like me, we won't worry about the specifics of how and why. The realism is truly astounding. I could literally look at these all day.

2. Scrumptious Mini (and edible) Food Masterpieces: If we ever host a major event (wedding if we're lucky, surprise party if we're unlucky) we will definitely try to create an entire menu of food minis like these!

3. Sweet Piñatas Pequeñas: We are ordering these post haste for our next group fiesta! Ole! (Not really though, they're $38 for 4 and the economy is basically in a recession. We're not that estúpido.)

Friday links: Pretty Pretty Princess Edition

Well ladybugs, summer is almost over. It's a major drag, we know, but this weekend is supposed to a nice one (in Toronto)! We recommend getting out there and doing something fun that you have been putting off.

A few weeks ago we went to see the Christian Louboutin exhibit at the Design Exchange here in Toronto and it was great! There are lots of shoes to gush over and the various displays are well curated. The Miss Piggy Louboutins are to die! The exhibit is on until September 15, 2013.

Obviously it's every girl's unfulfilled fantasy to wear either Belle's, Cinderella's, or Snow White's signature gown. Isn't it? Well, wait no longer! Here's your chance to bid on real life designer Disney Princess gowns! Hurrah! From Vogue.co.uk: DISNEY and Harrods will auction off ten Princess-inspired dresses created by some of the world's most famous fashion houses, including Oscar de la Renta, Versace and Elie Saab. The sale will take place in November at Christie's, and will raise money for the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity.

Check out this spot-on "If Disney Princesses had Instagram" post. We laughed. We mocked. We self-mocked. We won't stop. Follow Caitlin! Follow Lauren!

In the spirit of fun, friendly, and famous cartoons from our youth, check out this groovy poster showing 50 cartoon characters. You could stare at it for hours. So. Much. Fun.

Happy Friday you guys!

Nostalgically yours,
us

Monday Links: Artsy Fartsy Edition

We are feeling acutely artistic this week, maybe it's because one of us is planning a baby shower and the other one is helping! Hurrah!

In the ever-evolving world of party planning, one must always choose a colour palette, dawlings! So we like this nice compact website where you can instantly create colour palettes with as many or as few hues you require. This site is also helpful if you need a little assistance with complimentary combinations. Of course, we still turn to ColourLovers for ready-made palettes.

While you're riding this colour wave, check out Amy Sia's rich and vibrant prints over at Society 6. We especially love the painterly pillow covers.

Award for most creative Dad goes to this guy. His sandwich bags are the bomb dig. This practice got us thinking about how it could be translated into a cool high school art project. And then that got us thinking about high school art projects and how they seemed inherently pointless and we were often left thinking "why are you making me do this? This isn't art!". Thank god we've thoroughly gotten over that teenage self-righteous behaviour! But seriously, why couldn't our dads do stuff like this when we were young? Surely we would be at least 70% more creative now!

Monday Links: Easy Listening Edition

Let's start off this week with some fun international sensations!

We recently discovered this young whippersnapper from New Zealand, Lorde. Listen to her darling voice here. We also love the hair. Girlfriend is 16!

You will thank us for giving you this little piece of wonderful! May 21 cannot come fast enough! How is Pharrell still so sexy? That man does not age. He can get it like that. Ok we're stopping now...

Another treat fer yer ears! Influenced by the soft stylings of Feist, the Malaysian singer Yuna makes us smile. Listen here. Her new album drops May 7. Her Tumblr is pretty cool too.

Alice Smith's new album She is delightful and scrumptious. Here is our fav song so far. Also Vogue featured her as their Artist of the Week earlier this month. Amen sister friend.

Groovingly yours,
Us

Monday Links: Just Incase You Missed It Edition!

Occasionally, but not very often, we, like people living under a rock, miss out on a few hot items from the previous week. And because we love you, we wish to prevent you from that as much as possible. So just incase you missed it, here are some helpful links to keep you up to speed.

1. Beyonce and Jay-Z are getting really personal with the world, and we LOVE it. A short documentary about Jay's life and times surfaced. At one point Jay-Z rides the subway to a concert in Brooklyn. He talks to an old lady about being famous and it's cute. Subsequently, his fabulous wife Beyonce released a teaser trailer for her upcoming HBO documentary. O-M-G. All of this combined with Bey's hand written Instagram notes and tumblr updates it is becoming increasingly easier to pretend she is our best friend.

2. HBOs Game of Thrones released a trailer for its third season. We are intrigued and Rob Stark looks freaking unstoppable. Also we're forever hopeful that this is the season John Snow is deflowered and that meanie Theon bites the dust. Speaking of, did you guys know that the actor who plays Theon, Alfie Allen is Lilly Allen's brother? AND the song Alfie is about him? We hope that fictional romantical interest in his sister isn't reflective of real life (excuse us, incest is always on the brain...)

3. Kim Kardashian's kitten past away. I, Lauren am pretty distraught. Here are some images of Mercy to help you mourn this passing.

4. Kate Middleton is with Royal child (!) and as a result this happened. Such a joyous occasion has been plagued with a bit of disaster thus far and we are a little concerned. Let's not jinx anything and focus on the fact that we will be seeing more of this in the near future.

Stay Busy!

Monday Links: When Animals Attack Edition

For anyone who knows us, you may be surprised to learn that we are fascinated by more than just incest and its various incarnations. Another one of our misguided obsessions is animal attacks! Last week a couple in British Columbia were attacked by a mama bear while hiking (and people ask why we avoid nature when possible). This got us thinking about all the infamous animal attacks and how much we love recounting them to unknowing acquaintances and passerbys...

Here are some links to help you pass the time:

1. Two terrifying chimp attacks: The Worst Story I Ever Heard and Travis the Menace

2. This slideshow on Slate about the History of Grizzlies in Yellowstone is absolutely captivating!

3. If, after that long and thrilling read, you need a more human (if not unsettling and comical) portrayal of man and beast interacting we urge you to watch Werner Herzog's Grizzly Man.

4. And of course we don't want to throw you out into the wilderness scared and traumatized fresh off reading these awful animal attacks with no means to protect yourselves. So we leave you with this helpful guide.

Happy Monday, stay safe.
