Tuesday Links: After Oscar Edition

When not navigated carefully, the Internet can suck you into a veritable post-award-show black hole. There is A LOT to look at; for instance you could spend easily 3-5 hours just looking at Jared Leto hair posts (better to not ask how we know this). Two days post-Oscar, here is what we thought worthy of your precious time.

1. The best party photos to come out of theVanity Fair Oscar Party. Feel free to write to us if you know where we can purchase that Hollywood Issue inspired lamp shade. Check out these stunners while you're at it.

2. You can Travoltify your name here. We are Laurence Hernt & Christian Wailson.

3.This could have saved you a lot of time on Sunday and that hangover on Monday.

4. Stay strong Leo.

5. Cate Blanchett is terribly trusting. Also we would have died and immediately broken out in the speech we've been perfecting since age 5.

6. Peter Nyong'o was out there living your dreams all award season and you had no idea.

Morning After: 86th Academy Awards

The Academy Awards took place last night, and, like all good samaritans, we gathered to watch in Lauren's condo's party room and ate our weight in cheese, respectively. And drank cocktails of course!

Anyway, the show was great and Ellen did an impeccable job and had us laughing out loud! Honestly though, we thought she'd be dancing more. There were some awkward moments (most winners/presenters really struggled with the double kiss) and some truly inspiring moments (we liked Lupita's and Jared's speeches), but most of all there was a lot of glitz and some amazing frocks! See our judgements below.

Best Dressed Ladystars: Kate Hudson in Atelier Versace. She is looking bomb diggity these days. Keep it up gurlll! Anne Hathaway in Gucci. Although the shape is reminiscent of last year's dress, this one is much much better. Consider yourself redeemed Anne!

Best Dressed Ladystar Runner Up: Lupita Nyung'o in Prada. She looks beautiful and the colour is to die. But we were expecting a little more from her and that neckline is a tad broad for our tastes.

Surprisingly Worst Dressed Ladystar: Anna Kendrick, what happened? This J. Mendel gown was far too busy and not at all what we would have expected.

Non-surprisingly Worst Dressed Ladystar: Whoopi, no. It didn't work when Julia attempted, and it's certainly not working for you.

PPBB Presents: Oscars Drinking Game 2014

Sunday is the big show, sportsfans! We hope you are gathering with your nearest and dearest to watch Ellen host Hollywood's Superbowl. For those of you who drink, we have provided a fun little game to cheers to! Get your beer, cocktail, beer cocktail, wine, and, of course, champers all opened and poured and get tipsy this Sunday during the Academy Awards, as Streep would have intended.

Download the printable version here.

A Visual History of Oscar Dresses

This pictorial list of all the dresses worn by Best Actress Academy Award Winners from 1929 to 2013 is phenomenal.

What Will They Wear: Oscar Ladystars

In similar style to, but in vastly different capacities, our goal in following NYFW was much like those of the top celebrity stylists: Oscar red carpet looks. And after such roaring success last year we have thoughtfully made some selections for our top lady nominees (we've also included Anne Hathaway here, she deserve a chance to redeem herself this year)!

And...because we are constantly looking for ways to feel included we took the liberty of presenting our very own picks. Of course, Lauren will be attending as Leo's date and Caitlin will be on the arm of Joaquin.

5th Ever Bangin' Awards: Oscars 2014

It's that time of year again star-gazers, so get your red carpets steam cleaned because they are about to be the home of the greatest (and worst) of celebrity fashions! But, before scrutinizing and arguing over what we loved or loathed, let's focus on the best fashions presented on the silver screen this year. We had the opportunity to covet styles from all different decades, including the future, and some were pretty bangin'!

The envelope please...

Best Dressed Leading Male Character
Leonardo DiCaprio as Jay Gatsby, The Great Gatsby
Go to look: Cool, crisp, beautiful shirts
Enviable Accessories: Cufflinks, pocket Squares, straw boater hats & wingtips. Intense longing accompanied by glitter

Style Rival: Ryan Gosling as Sgt. Jerry Wooters, Gangster Squad

Best Dressed Supporting Male Character(s)
BJ Novak and Jason Schwartzman as The Sherman Brothers, Saving Mr. Banks
Go to look: 60's prep

Style Rival: Justin Timberlake as Jim, Inside Llewyn Davis

Best Dressed Lead Female Character
Amy Adams as Sydney Prosser, American Hustle

Style Rival: Cate Blanchett as Jasmine, Blue Jasmine

Best Dressed Supporting Female Character
Elizabeth Banks as Effie Trinket, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
Go to look: Capital Couture
Enviable Accessories: Bold dye jobs, dangerously high heels, fascinators of the future
We'd like to see: Her walking in the Cinna S/S 2214 show
Style Rival: Elsa, Frozen

Best Future Fashions in a Feature Film
Her
Go to look: High waisted trousers on the men, and high neck tops on the women. Red everything
Enviable Accessories: Operating systems, ear pieces, that adorable card case looking smart phone equivalent
We’d like to see: Perhaps a more demure fly length on the men's trousers…
Style Rival: Gravity, har har we most certainly hope not

Best (cough, worst) Perm in a Feature Film
Bradley Cooper as Richie DiMaso, American Hustle
Go to look: Permed hair, don't care
Enviable Accessories: Hair rollers presumably
We’d like to see: Better hair, obviously or Justin Timberlake style highlights
Style Rival: Emma Thompson as P.L Travers, Saving Mr. Banks (almost too close to call!)

Morning After: The 56th Annual Grammy Awards

Our love for award shows was somewhat trumped last night for our new found love* for "Grown Sexi" themed weddings…we're talking about Sean and Catherine's televised Bachelor wedding! But we switched back to the Grammys during commercial breaks of course. Obviously, could not miss the best and sexiest part of the show:

Best Dressed Ladies: Ciara in Emilio Pucci and Taylor Swift in Gucci Primière.
Honourable Mention: Kelly Osborne in Badgley Mischka. She is really hitting her mark these days!

Morning After: The 2014 SAG Awards

Up here in the Great North, the SAG Awards will broadcast on Sunday instead of Saturday night. This is the only time in our lives we've sympathized with angry sports fans who've learned the outcome and top plays of the big game before actually watching it (it does in fact sting). What we can do to ease the pain is talk about the happenings from the evenings red carpet.

Best Dressed Ladies: Once again, Lupita Nyong'o in Gucci and Hannah Simone in Marchesa.

Worst Dressed Ladies: Kerry Washington in Prada and Julie Bowen in Carolina Herrera.

Tuesday Links: Golden Globe Wrap Up Edition

The Golden Globes are officially over and thanks so much for caring about what we had to say yesterday! Now it's time to care about what other awesome people had to say (or what we forgot to mention). We're particularly obsessed with the above picture of the Michael Fassbender and Benedict Cumberbatch dance off! Happy surfing.

1. Best of the Celebrity Instas! You'd also be Instagramming your little hearts out if you'd been there, #nofilter needed!

2. Mandatory RC Uniforms!? Pretty sure we'd still be asking who wore it best.

3. Tina and Amy's Opening Monologue. 'Cause why not watch them kill it over and over again??

4. Great recap courtesy of GQ. We'll be tucking some of these memes away for later.

5. So, Jared Leto's trendsetting look is the equivalent of how my hair looks like when I'm letting it air dry. Go figure.

6. The photobomb heard around the world. Or the single most important photo from the red carpet. According to Ryan Seacrest anyway.

7. Bradley and Leo. Are you obsessed with this friendship yet, inappropriately aged supermodel girlfriends aside.

8. Party Timeline. Because celebrities are just like us, they get drunk and dance to Blurred Lines.

9. Backstage Polaroids! Adorable.

Morning After: The 71st Annual Golden Globes

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Award season is back in full swing and we were giddy with excitement for the 71st Annual Golden Globes. Our evening was spent equal parts cringing and celebrating and that’s just the way we like it. It seemed like a big win for SNL Alum, although by the looks on Lorne Michaels' face you wouldn’t have thought so; we surely can’t imagine him continuing to scowl at Amy and Tina’s perfect Clooney and DiCaprio zingers or during Andy Samberg’s adorable acceptance speech (sidebar: how precious was the Seth Meyers enthusiasm for him?)!

We also can’t imagine being alone in what we loved about last night’s event: Jared Leto’s bun, budding romance between Amy Poehler and Bono, being proud of Leo but then, as any good girlfriend should be, equally shamed by his mispronunciation, as well as Emma Thompson and Julia Louis Dreyfus' overall amazingness, to name only a few. So we have, as we were born to do, compiled a comprehensive list of our best and worst of the night.

Best Dressed Ladies: The stunning Lupita Nyong'o in Ralph Lauren and that siren Helen Mirren in Jenny Packham.

Best Dressed Men (this really just means SEXIEST MEN to us hetero gals): Idris Elba and Chris Pine. Swoon.

Worst dressed Ladies: Jennifer Lawrence in Dior and, hate to say it, Sandy Bullock in Prabal Gurung.

Winner for lowest cut neckline: Not surprising Amy Adams, could've done without that necklace, but she does look bangin'.

Let's close our eyes and imagine Lena Dunham wore something more in this colour range:

See more after the jump!

Familiar Faces: New Girl Strikes Back Edition

Like many of you, we are delighted to be again watching new episodes of New Girl (after a summer of binge re-watching...). We think it's necessary to point out that Schmidt's part-time girlfriend Elizabeth and recent Emmy winner Merritt Wever first made our acquaintance in one of our all time fave movies: Strike.

The 1998 film was mysteriously renamed All I Wanna Do at an unknown date (but was clearly called Strike when I rented it monthly from Blockbuster circa the 2000's). If you haven't seen it, we highly recommend! It stars Kirsten Dunst too! Yay for teen movies that stand the test time!

Although it doesn't seem like she has been up to much (in Hollywood) since Strike, a quick IMDB query has revealed she has in fact been up to a lot! We are loathe to admit that we didn't make it past a few early Nurse Jackie episodes (only because we are poor and without cable). Anyway, she was a hit at the Emmys with this memorable acceptance speech:

We approve! And hope to see more of her in future projects.

Morning After: The 65th Primetime Emmy Awards

Best Dressed Lady: Rose Byrne in Calvin Klein Collection. If we ever need to go anywhere fancy ever again, we wanna look like this.

Best Dressed Man: Zachary Quinto

The Cast That Dressed Exactly How We Expected: Girls obviously. We kinda wanna see Lena Dunham in TLC's What Not To Wear, she has so much potential.

Best Dressed Young Fashionistas: Homeland's Morgan Saylor in Honor and Kiernan Shipka in Delpozoa.

Best Dressed Lady (Circa the 10th Primetime Emmy Awards in 1958 of course): Zooey Deschanel in J. Mendel

Hottest Couples: Jon Hamm and Jennifer Westfeldt, Shasi Wells and Dylan McDermott, Julianna Margulies and Keith Lieberthal

Campaigning For Sex Symbol Status: Contrasting the 50's housewife frock she wore to the (hilarious) James Franco Roast, Sarah Silverman is looking seductive in a $60 form fitting dress, you go girl! Linda Cardellini wearing a gorgeous Donna Karan Atelier dress.

Campaigning For Red Carpet Risk-Taker Status: Mindy Kaling in Georges Chakra, Kate Mara in J. Mendel, Michelle Dockery in Prada.

Ladies in Bizarre and Colourless Gowns: There are far too many of these dresses on the RC than we would like.

Most Inexplicable Outfit and Presence: Paula Abdul

Veronica Mars Flashback We Wanted To See The Least: Harry Hamlin and Lisa Rinna
