Seeing Double: Sitcom Hangover Edition

There are few things we love more than sitcoms about young, single professionals trying to make it in a thriving metropolis. One of our currents, The Mindy Project is premiering it's 3rd season next week (huzzah for fall TV!). In anticipation we checked out some promo photos of the cast, they couldn't help but remind us of some dearly departed friends...pun intended.

BONUS : In a Diner Edition In Bed Editon (Mindy can tackle this for Season 4!)

Happy weekend, rest up you have a heavy week of Fall premieres ahead!

Kim and Kanye take Paris

What an Awesome and wondrous Labour Day gift we received from Kimye: A Wedding Special!

And bless Kim’s heart for trying so hard to make it seem like it was her first. The occasion was supposedly filled with many secrets and surprises. I attribute this to Kim herself being in the dark about most of her own wedding plans, but I digress. Between E! Online, Instagram and every single news outlet on the planet, I felt very few details hadn’t surfaced yet, but just in case you missed them: let's review some of the inside scoop revealed last night:

Un: Kim Kardashian is a Parisian Tourism Ambassador. Thank god we finally have someone to show us all of the hidden gems in this unknown city.

Deux: Having Kanye West, whom you've likely only met sparingly, pick out a dress for you to wear without any input is obnoxious. Also his opinion on slits is final.

Trois: Mr. West understands that best friend isn’t a person but a tier; a classic Mindy Lahiri life lesson. Those three groomsmen looked like a barrel of laughs didn’t they?

Quatre: North West! Oh wait. We’ve seen her already. I’ll buy someone a million Instagram likes if they can logically explain to me why Nori’s face had to be blurred on that iPhone after we had seen her two scenes earlier? KONFUSED.

Cinq: Kendall Jenner is a model. I hadn't heard.

Six: The Kardashians‘ family and friends have iPhones that capture flawless HD Video and high quality sound. Either that or they stole footage they paid paparazzi to capture in-between driving Rob Kardashian out of the country. *

*E! definitely filmed this episode.

Dashingly yours,

Lauren

Morning After: 66th Emmy Awards

The Emmy Awards fell a little flat last night. We're pretty sure it's because a lot of the following folks we're about to highlight received ZERO airtime (note: we couldn't even find pictures of Idris Elba OR Louis C.K. OR Mark Ruffalo for our Best Dressed Man contender, unconscionable!) The usual winners prevailed, and, while it was nice to see our beloved Breaking Bad peeps take home the final piece of recognition they deserved, we were too busy wondering if we could hire Heisenberg to sabotage Jim Parsons & Modern Family next year to really enjoy it. Seth Meyers came off cheesy at times, and, in our opinion, was saved only by Amy Poehler and this hilarious Billy on the Street segment. But anyway, as always, the true joy in awards shows come from discussing the clothes! So without further ado, let's get started.

Best Dressed Ladystar: Teyonah Parris wearing bold and beautiful Christian Siriano. Runner Up Best Dressed Ladystar: Taylor Shilling wearing figure-flattering Zuhair Murad. Worst Dressed Ladystar: Lena Dunham wearing Giambattista Valli. Runner Up Worst Dressed Ladystar: Laura Prepron wearing Gustavo Cadile. Best Lady Pants: Robin Wright wearing Ralph Lauren. Best Red : TIE! Julia Louis Dreyfus wearing Carolina Herrara and Uzo Aduba wearing Christian Siriano.

See more after the jump!

The More You Know: Binge-watching

We must say that we were straight up touched while watching this PSA yesterday, it is always nice to find out that tv stars are looking out for you (though deep down we always knew Mr. Mars had our back!).

This hilarious video from EW is also impeccably timed, as we've currently taken to re-binging Friday Night Lights in its entirety. And all we'll say is good thing we've got a blog and jobs to worry about or we'd never leave West Dillon (haven't hit season 4 just yet...)

Enjoy the below if only as a mere distraction from your current Netflix queue.

Happy Friday!

Wednesday Links: Eye + Ear Candy Edition

Do you need a break?

Are you stressed?

Do you want to relive the past and learn new things?

Well, here we present to you some fun stuff on the internet!

1. What Ikea Looked Like 50 Years Ago: It's no secret we are big time Ikea lovers, so we were delighted to see this retrospective of Ikea through the decades. Can you believe there are people on this earth who have never even been to an Ikea, let alone enjoyed an Ikea meatball?!?!? Also, who knew the Lack side table has been around since the 80's? Keep up the good work Ikea.

2. Stream Carefully Curated Jayoncé Radio Playlists: Colour us excited! Tonight is the Toronto On The Run concert and we could not be more thrilled. These playlists are simply fanning the flames.

3. See all the times OITNB actors appeared on Law & Order: This one is just good old fashion fun! It's always neat to watch old eppies of L&O and see future stars.

Mad Men Emmy Ads

The important people over at AMC have released some super funky and creative For Your Consideration Emmy Ads for Mad Men. To be honest, we weren't aware that shows did this kind of thing, but given the subject matter of the show, we must distribute props where props are due!

We particularly love the Sally ad. My mum would have died for those lace tights! We also can't help but notice that Betty's ad is the only one without a short description. Perhaps AMC has reconciled to the fact that January Jones offers little more than an icy glare in most scenes and didn't feel right about describing her performances as elegantly and tastefully as the others'.

See more Mad Men vintage ads after the jump!

Friday Links: Funny Ladies Edition

We realize we haven't posted in some time. But now that we have secured tickets to On the Run, we are back in the saddle sportsfans!

For today's links, we present to you some straight-up hilarious women.

1. Ilana Glazer's YouTube show: For those of you who already know and love Broad City (if you haven't yet watched, we just don't even know what to say to you), you'll go nuts for Ilana's YouTube show Chronic Gamer Girl. She interviews randos, talks about and plays video games, and just basically rambles and it's really good. Since Broad City's first season is over, we are soaking up all the internet has to offer by these two chicas. Truly delightful stuff.

2. Showtime's Women Who Kill: A standup special on Netflix ya'll! Starring Amy Schumer, Rachel Feinstein, Nikki Glaser and Marina Franklin. Amy Schumer's part is pretty standard (good) and Nikki Glaser jokes in a very similar fashion. Marina Franklin, however, really stands out. We were laughing pretty hard. Check out one of her bits on YouTube here.

3. Jessica St. Clair and Lennon Parham's new show Playing House: The pilot was a little rocky, but we liked the second episode and, based on the pair's first stab at a sitcom (Best Friends Forever) we think it will only get better. These two make a great team and we still aren't tired of female friendships driving the plot. Along with Girls, Broad City, Parks and Rec, and even Orange is the New Black, we think female focused sitcoms don't always have to revolve around romance.

Happy Friday folks. Keep on chucklin'.

Morning After & Familiar Faces & Bangin' Awards : Pete Campbell Edition

A lot of lives were in shambles on the small screen last night, some more than others, obviously! And sure, the body of one Zac Efron provided some solace, but it was another tanned someone who truly broke up the despair: Pete Campbell!

In a premiere episode where almost everyone was haunted by a perpetual cloud of gloom, misery and aimlessness, Pete was shockingly content. And his storyline provided us with A LOT to discuss: from his bold fashion choice to his familiar looking costar (hint: she once romanced Logan Echolls on Veronica Mars!).

Let's review, shall we?:

Snappiest Dresser: Pete Campbell, wearing California well. Not quite a 'hippie' but those pants and sideburns! At least he is embracing the relaxed west coast aesthetic, the same can't be said for Don's grey suit. Looking stiff!
Honorable Mention: Megan Draper. Say what you will, Mrs. Draper can dress.

Best Familiar Face: Jessy Schram. Sure, she annoyed us all as Hannah, but it's always thrilling to spot a VMars alum. And one slightly resisting the Don Draper charms in favour of...Pete?! Seriously though, what. is. happening?
Honourable Mention: Neve Campbell!! We sincerely hope that this isn't the last of her this season.

Enviable Accessories: Pete Campbell's tennis sweater, which we believe he has previously paired with some booty short?? Ok, so we just wanted to post this picture.

Dishonourable mention: Peggy. Gurl, we understand you're feeling lost and depressed, but you need to stop wearing that hat ASAP. It isn't helping matters and we think it was probably even considered ugly in 1969. ALSO everything in Megan's creepy, canyon house.

We don't particularly take pride in Pete coming out on top and don't love seeing Peggy, Don and Roger in their current states, but we DO love that Mad Men is back, if only for 6 short episodes!

They're back. We're hooked.

Hot on the heels of a possible James Franco Catfish (won't bore you with our opinion, but we're leaning towards it's a hoax and/or he's creepy!) we've been graced with a trailer from our favourite MTV duo. Catfish Season 3 is on its way people, and we CANNOT WAIT -- particularly since the show teaches us such valuable dating and life lessons. Happy to see Nev's sage 'request a picture with your name' advice employed during the aforementioned scandal. Sure, it doesn't make the situation less troubling, but you should never be too careful.

Enjoy this sneak peek of what is to come! According to our favourite silver fox, it's gonna be dark, cold and twisted.

They're back May 7.

March Mad-Men-Ness is BACK

Mad Men is coming back next month for its (GASP) final season. Admittedly, this is probably a wise choice for the show since it doesn't seem to be as popular as it was a few seasons ago.

Now, judging from these recently released season 7 photos, there is going to be a lot of storylines focusing around...planes; should we start placing bets on when Don will land the TWA account? Generally, the cast looks great, as do the flight attendants! There's really no stopping Megan's glamour fashion!

The season premieres on Sunday April 13. Don't get too chuffed though, season 7 is going to be split into two seven-episode sections airing this year and next.

Many more photos after the break!

Friday Links: EL OH EL Edition

Well, it's been a confusing and offensive week. We mean weather-wise of course. Mother nature is a triflin' prankster!

If you're like us, you're looking for a quick and painless pick-me-up (and you don't wanna leave your house…). So, here we present to you some hilarious links to get you started on your winter-weather-sadness recovery.

1. Comedy Central's web series turned real TV series Broad City: This show is so fucking hilarious, we can barely keep our shit together and we are finding ourselves using gratuitous expletives. These two gurlz are just that funny. We like to think of this show as an amalgamation of Inside Amy Shumer and Flight of the Conchords. We *highly* recommend. Get it?!?! Watch the episodes here.

2. The most amazing spoof of the Bachelor, Burning Love: Don't get it twisted, we love the Bachelor franchise and everything it stands for, but we are also aware of how totally batshit most of the contestants are. The E! web series Burning Love represents everything we love to hate about the show and it's spot on. You will recognize a ton of the actors from Joss Whedon shows. We are particularly fond of season 2, Julie's season. Check out some of the episodes here.

3. Drunk In Love is a great song/video, this spoof is just as amazing. Obviously, we love a good spoof and totally consider it an art form. Dunkin Love is freaking hysterical. Watch the video here and go get yourself some Dunkin Love. BONUS VIDEO: The emoji edition of Drunk In Love is oddly satisfying…

Have a cheerful Friday!

Beauty Inspiration: Caitlin Fitzgerald

So you may not have seen it yet, but Showtime's Masters of Sex is making quite a splash. It's basically Mad Men, but set a decade earlier and in a hospital rather than an ad agency. Anyway, it's pretty good, if not a bit too "acty". One thing's for sure: the costuming is to die. We particularly like Caitlin Fitzgerald who plays Bill Masters' wife, Libby. Her sweet house wifey dresses keep us coming back to the show, but what we are really after is her real life look. Check out the pics below for much needed lip-tastic beauty inspo! Also, a word of advice: steer clear of the Johnson and Masters wiki page. We basically spoiled what we can only assume will be the major plot lines of the 2nd and 3rd seasons of Masters of Sex. Oops.
