As Seen on SJP: Volume 5

Say what you will about Sarah Jessica Parker, girl has it together when it comes to unconventional fashion. We see way too many dark and gloomy colours in winter so it's lovely to see some light and cool pastels, in floral ta boot!

Morning After: Golden Globes 2013

Last night's Golden Globes were delightful, purely because Amy Poehler and Tina Fey are simply the best hostesses ever. Our ladies were on fire and we’d like to demand that they host everything we watch/do from here on out (I am pretty sure the audience would agree as they were laughing just as hard at those zingers). As per the usual story, everyone tried to look pretty and have a good time (exceptions: Taylor Swift, Joaquin Phoenix, Tommy Lee Jones and a teleprompter who didn't), although we did furrow our brows at a few things and wanted more visuals from the Ben/J.Lo/Diddy triangle, we were mostly entertained. Here are our highlights:

Best-dressed girls: Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Couture, Michelle Dockery in Alexandre Vauthier

Worst dressed girls: Halle Berry in disaster, Sienna Miller in Erdem (errr...is right).

Best-dressed guys: Daniel Craig in Tom Ford (but, of course), Leonardo DiCaprio in unconfirmed, but sexy tux, and Eddie Redmayne looking divine.

Worst dressed guy: Robert Pattinson. We placed him with the losers only because he just looked like one all night. Skulking and drinking his Heineken solo. No offence to the actual custom clothing here.

Best couple(s): Emily Blunt in Elie Saab & John Krasinski and Ben Affleck & Jennifer Garner in Vivienne Westwood.

Worst couple(s): Nicole Kidman & Keith Urban and Jennifer Lopez & boy companion.

Best (and by best we mean worst) Lace: J. Lo in Zuhair Murad, Julie Louis Dreyfous in Vera Wang, Julianna Magulies in Puccini.

Best Olympic Sanctioned Ice Dancing Costumes: Kate Hudson in Alexander McQueen and J.Lo in Zuhair Murad

Best maternity, with new mom hair: Kristen Bell in Jenny Packham.

Possible meh, maternity: Anne Hathaway in Chanel (not pregnant but still.)

Best Wedding Party: Amanda Seyfried in Givenchy (bride) Lena Dunham in Zac Posen and Taylor Swift in Donna Karan (bridesmaids).

Best Look-a-Likes: Is Jeremy Irons actually Daniel Day Lewis with slight make-up application to age him?

Best Fan Girls: Jon Hamm clapping and looking elated after Girls wins Best TV Show & Daniel Craig high-fiving Adele. Cute as a freaking button.

Favourite moment: Amy Poehler creeping up on George Clooney!

Most awkward moment: Lena Dunham should have worn flats.

Most Annoying moment (also overall person): Ann Hathaway, your speech was nice, but too clearly researched and rehearsed and you didn’t have to use the Les Mis movie win to wrap it up. Know your moments.

Most endearing moment: Adele having her girls night out and acting genuinely humbled by the win.

Moment we wished had happened!: Audience V-Mars reunion with Kristen Bell, Amanda Seyried and Max Greenfield.

Goldenly yours,

Us

What We Are Looking Forward To in 2013

Well now that we've exhaustively listed our fav happenings of 2012, let us move upward and onward with the new year!

STYLE

Going to finally capitalize on the peplum phenom, as well as strong black and white looks.

BOOKS

Lena Dunham's rumoured book. Expectations are Tina Fey and Chelsea Handler level literate comedy.

TELEVISION

New and reborn season of Arrested Development, and the very much anticipated sophomore season of HBO's Girls. We predict Amy Poehler and Tina Fey teaming up as Golden Globe hosts will prove to be a real hoot.

MOVIES

Oz the Great and Powerful and The Great Gatsby AGAIN. Baz Lurhmann, you are walking a fine line. Also, this year we will truly be open minded to anything that isn't a member of the super hero craze (ie. Superman, Iron Man, Thor), featured a tired action star or is related to the Hobbit -- though that seems in short supply

MUSIC

New up and coming artist Andy Allo is looking and sounding sharp! Of course can't wait for what the 2013 has to offer ft. Beyonce, Nicki Minaj and Azealia Banks. We also think Ben Howard is about the blow up (if he hasn't already???).

MATERNITY

Baby Kimye and the Royal Heir. Also the will she or won't she (gain/lose the weight again, that is) surrounding Jessica Simpson.

BEYONCE

Super Bowl half time show, Pepsi Ad, HBO documentary, new Destinys Child music, possible collaboration with JT and everything else imaginable. Can't. Be. Stopped.

SHOPPING

Target in Canada, hurrah!

OBAMA INAUGURATION

Only if Beyoncé is performing and Obama is being adorable with wifey and children. UPDATE: Beyonce has confirmed her performance, result!

MUST HAVE APP

Icon Pop Quiz, we've needed something new to occupy our time when travelling on public transit, waiting in insufferable lines and avoiding people.

LIVING OUR BEST LIVES

Getting in better shape and being more virtuous.

Morning After: Girls Season 2 Premiere

So last night it seems like all the cool people of NYC got together to watch the premiere episode of Girls while the rest of us chumps have to wait until Sunday (even worse for the folks without HBO who are forced to catch up on monday...i.e. us). Anyway, our Instagram feeds were blowing up with celebs demonstrating their superior status as attendees. Everyone from Questlove to Hilary Rhoda were boasting about the event. Mozel.

Ignore our bitching and see the cast all dressed up!

We must say that Shoshanna looks adorable and we are dying to know what Zosia Mamet is like in real life. Unfortunately, the talented Lena Dunham can't seem to help herself from looking like a mess. That's harsh we know. But when you are directing, writing and starring in your own show on cable and are NOT Sarah Jessica Parker, hire a stylist for goodness sakes. Marnie looks great!

Things We Loved in 2012

It's that time of year again kittens! Time to reflect profoundly about all your accomplishments and failures of yesteryear. Well, call us superficial, but really this comes down to reflecting upon our various cultural pursuits and surroundings. We present our favs of 2012:

STYLE
Leather accents: sleeves, skirts, tuxedo style trim, even fake leather sequins; everything goes. Also, still not over the denim shirt look and this year we even adopted patterned styles.

BOOKS
We loved both How to be a Woman by Caitlin Moran and Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn.

TELEVISION
After uncertainty in 2011 we caught up with Breaking Bad and Homeland, and stuck faithful during amazing seasons of Mad Men, Dexter. Plus great sophomore seasons of New Girl and Revenge.

MOVIES
Les Misérables, Pitch Perfect, Skyfall, Moonrise Kingdom, Argo and the underappreciated Jesse and Celeste Forever.

FAV ACTING STARS
Jennifer Lawrence and Joseph Gordon Levitt. These 2 are precious. Also Eddie Redmayne, too cute.

MUSIC
Frank Ocean, Taylor Swift, Mumford and Sons and the Civil Wars.

BEYONCE
The Tumblr, The Live at Roseland Concert DVD, performing with Jay-Z at the Barclays Centre, intimately revealing her private life through Instagram. We thank her greatly for the aforementioned, but it is still not enough.

FAMOUS BABY OBSESSIONS
Harper Beckham, Baby Blue, and of course the fictional Baby Sybbie.

SHOPPING
J. Crew lands in Canada! We snatched up blazers, boots and sweaters. And our dream swiftly became to live in a J. Crew catalogue.

LIFE SAVING APPS
Songza, Timeplay and Rocket Man, if you're not using these, you straight up cray.

TRAVEL (INTERNATIONAL)
Lauren took a Royal tour of Scotland and England (of course, it was the Jubilee year after all) and Caitlin visited her fantasy homelands of the Netherlands and Belgium; impressing locals with her language skills, but not with her footwear selection.

TRAVEL (DOMESTIC)
We each ventured out west this year to the ever-alluring Vancouver (impressed by the amount of Mexican cuisine available) as well as the not so alluring Winnipeg (not so impressed with the artic-like climate but made it onto the news!). Both experiences made us feel more in touch with our Canadian brethren.

A Beautiful Thing

After controlling our heart palpitations and managing to stop gawking at the shirtless men (Declan not included), we analyzed what this new Revenge promo might be suggesting. With Emily back in Daniel's arms, is there a reunion on the Hamptons horizon?! Or maybe all this means is that everyone got a little hotter over Christmas break. Regardless, Sunday can't come soon enough.

Looking at Girls in Magazines: Deschanel Edition

Zooey Deschanel could not look cuter in the February 2013 Glamour cover and spread (although, she could easily be confused with Rory Gilmore on the cover!). We are loving the country western cowgirl style, and not just because we recently became obsessed with Nashville (always excited to see coach's wife Tammy Taylor back in the saddle!).
