"Summer days will soon be over, soon the autumn starts..."
And sure your summers are never as scandalous as Baby's, you're no Penny on the dance floor & could never pull off Lisa's two piece, but everyone deserve a Kellermans style send off this time of year!
Happy Labour Day y'all!
Autumnally yours,
Us
Let's join in just one last chorus, read: Happy Labour Day!
Morning After: The 56th Annual Grammy Awards
Our love for award shows was somewhat trumped last night for our new found love* for "Grown Sexi" themed weddings…we're talking about Sean and Catherine's televised Bachelor wedding! But we switched back to the Grammys during commercial breaks of course. Obviously, could not miss the best and sexiest part of the show:
Best Dressed Ladies: Ciara in Emilio Pucci and Taylor Swift in Gucci Primière.
Honourable Mention: Kelly Osborne in Badgley Mischka. She is really hitting her mark these days!
Emergency Beyoncé Moment
Well sportsfans, it's happening! Beyoncé has pulled the ultimate musical stunt: she has released a new album without ANY HYPE WHATSOEVER. It's all we can do to not write this entire post in KANYE CAPS.
She must know that she is making all of our dreams come true in one morning? We are truly feeling inspired and empowered by this sleuth release. OR is it just that we want to wear nude lipstick for the first time?
Preview the videos here and sample/buy the album on iTunes.
Happy Friday, Birthday, Christmas and New Year,
us
Crazy in Love with this kid!
Happy Monday sports fans!
We promise there will come a day when we don't do a post about Beyoncé. Alas, today is not that day.
Beyoncé superfan Chris Koo has posted a spellbindingly glorious dance video on Youtube that we guarantee you will watch til the end. Boy doesn't even break a sweat. This homage is a sweet escape down memory lane for us and we feel inspired and entranced by it! Plus we want that t-shirt.
We really just can't get enough of Beyoncé, her dance moves, music, life and everything else she stands for (OBVI). If you can think of a way for us to show our devotion in a public format other than a dance tribute, we would be ever so grateful. Our hair just doesn't flip the way Chris Koo's does...
Enjoy!
Memories of Bey
Our summer highlight was easily the Mrs. Carter tour, and, for your own sake, we truly hope it was able to be yours too. We were particularly overcome (naturally) when she glided towards us like out of a freaking dream. So how grand that we can all relive it together in this new video!
Watching this is guaranteed to brighten up your Wednesday!
P.S. Whoever is brave enough to propose to us should probably copy that guy and do so during Bey's next tour. Now that we've seen it, we want it. It might also be the only chance he's gonna have to come out ahead of Beyoncé on the Greatest-moments-of-our-lives scale.
Bey Good,
Us
Handsome Fellas Playing Folk Music Together
This may come as a shock to some, but we've long thought that forming an all-girl folk band might be a great way to achieve fame, we're also pretty sure we'd kill it on the tambourine! When this dream comes into fruition let's be clear that we'll gladly become the first couple of folk music with any of the men featured in the Mumford and Sons Hopeless Wanderer video. Hint: they are surprisingly funnymen Ed Helmes, Jason Batemen, Will Forte and Jason Sudeikis!
The boys team up for a folk parody, so cut to us being obsessed because it is great. True, Will's beard is a tad Breaking Amish, but everything else is pin point! Where can we buy tickets for this concert tour?
The Call: Aftermath
Once upon a time BSBs' AJ McClean really wanted to tell us about a phone call that “changed his destiny” and, don’t lie, you’ve waited 12 years to truly find out how. Well the day has come; this week the Backstreet Boys released a catchy new heartbreak tune called “One Phone Call.” In our humble opinion this is a straight up sequel to the 2001 hit “The Call” and we couldn’t be more intrigued.
In case you need refreshing: in 2001 AJ McClean put on his finest leathers and favorite handkerchief and went to a happening, laser filled nightclub.
While there he called his girlfriend and the following, shocking conversation was had:
Girl: Hello?
AJ: Hi it's me what's up baby? I'm sorry listen I'm gonna be late tonight so don't stay up and wait for me ok?
Girl: Where are you?
AJ: What? say... say that again
Girl: Hello?
AJ: You're really dropping out, I think my battery must be low*.
Listen if you can hear me we're going to this place nearby, all right? Gotta go.
*Homeboy could have really used a charger pack.
Naturally we all hypothesized about what happened with this relationship: did he cheat? What exactly happened at the place nearby? Did that lady-mask that Howie D wore help to cover his buddy's tracks? Well folks here is the jarring truth:
"I'm gonna leave my message at the tone / Begging pretty baby come home / 'Cause you're my one, always be my one phone call."
O-M-G. Clearly they DID break up and talk about regret. Clearly someone is still lamenting that fateful evening! Feeling alone and unforgiven. Calling everyday, haunted by blame, comparing life to a prison sentence, always hoping for a "call." Surprising that she never changed her number...
Looking at Boys in Magazines: Drake Days of Summer Edition
We gotta say we've been kinda off the Drake tip these days. However, he is starting to win us back with this cover. He's definitely looked better in past shoots, and we can't confidently get behind this outfit, but the inside pages are pretty darn seksi.
Those are some hella tight and white jeans.
Smilingly yours,
Us
The Morning After: Much Music Video Awards
Yes, we have award shows in Canada too and though we don't actually watch them good for us for having them!
In our defense Sunday is a fairly demanding television night & quality programming like Mad Men (OMG, Sally! btw) doesn't get postponed for the MMVAs. Our beady little eyes did catch a glimpse of one beautiful and familiar face last night: Josh Bowman, swoon. And by the difficult nature of finding a good picture of him from last night it appears many of you missed it. He was looking fine and this was a rare opportunity for all to hear that sexy accent.
In other observations, we really liked this Hervé Leger look on Taylor Swift:
Happy Monday!
Monday in Love
In an attempt to forget the horrors experienced during last night's television viewing (chiefly among them: Kim implying something about Kanye & his nether regions!), let's all enjoy this rare affectionate moment between the only couple that matter: Beyoncé and Jay-Z.
Just trying to put a positive spin on your week, also if you haven't watched GOT yet, avoid the rest of Internet!
Anatomy of a Hottie: Sexy Lipsync Edition
Happy Friday!
If you haven't watched the clip of John Krasinski and Jimmy Fallon soundlessly battling in a lip-sync-off, you are going to have to stop whatever you're doing and watch it now (see below). It's fantastic and we love John Krasinski more than ever.
Let's just say it wouldn't be inappropriate to call us super fans (still relatively indifferent to Jimmy however).
We are also mentally preparing for our own Lip Sync battles. Caitlin would obviously choose I Want You To Need Me by Celine Dion and Lauren's choice is clearly Radio Romance by Tiffany.
Groovingly yours,
Us
The Morning After: Super Beyoncé
Last night's Super Beyoncé was fierce.
And because this is the first, and likely last, time we will be reporting on a sporting event, we thought we'd share the factors that contributed to this post: Beyoncé's unwavering domination, our friend Sabrina (actually follows the NFL, offered interesting tidbits about players that we would otherwise never know), this hot guy and confirming that the Blind Side guy was indeed playing. We could have used many more camera pans to Sandra Bullock though, but let us move on.
Beyoncé was flawless and we admittedly blushed over the thought of having to do those sexy dance moves in public (these moves appeared even more sexual since Caitlin, in a panic, demanded all the lights in the apartment be turned off pre-performance).
Let's relive our favorite moments:
1. This entrance.
2. When there were multiple Beyoncés looking all kinds of fierce.
3. When Tina Knowles' fashionable eye finally made a comeback.

4. When she sang Halo and the heavens opened up.
5. When she threw that thing off stage and we all imagined catching it, then never ever taking it off
6. Sexiest dance moves this world has ever seen.
7. That flowing hair made of lights (visible from the overhead perspective).
8. When she left the stage & the world went dark after realizing it couldn't get any better than that. Also known as the Beyoncé Blackout #beyonceblackout
Her performance will truly go down in history and it is safe to say there is really no reason for us to watch the Super Bowl ever again.
Sportingly yours,
Us
Handsome Fellas Hanging Out: Volume 1
There's nothing better than when two (or more) of your fantasy boyfriends get together & hang out. Whether it be behind the scenes, on the red carpet or just a casual lunch, it sends the heart a flutter.
Here are Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake giggling like school girls on set for the 'Suit & Tie' music video:

What We Are Looking Forward To in 2013
Well now that we've exhaustively listed our fav happenings of 2012, let us move upward and onward with the new year!
STYLE Going to finally capitalize on the peplum phenom, as well as strong black and white looks. |
BOOKS Lena Dunham's rumoured book. Expectations are Tina Fey and Chelsea Handler level literate comedy. |
TELEVISION New and reborn season of Arrested Development, and the very much anticipated sophomore season of HBO's Girls. We predict Amy Poehler and Tina Fey teaming up as Golden Globe hosts will prove to be a real hoot. |
MOVIES Oz the Great and Powerful and The Great Gatsby AGAIN. Baz Lurhmann, you are walking a fine line. Also, this year we will truly be open minded to anything that isn't a member of the super hero craze (ie. Superman, Iron Man, Thor), featured a tired action star or is related to the Hobbit -- though that seems in short supply |
MUSIC New up and coming artist Andy Allo is looking and sounding sharp! Of course can't wait for what the 2013 has to offer ft. Beyonce, Nicki Minaj and Azealia Banks. We also think Ben Howard is about the blow up (if he hasn't already???). |
MATERNITY Baby Kimye and the Royal Heir. Also the will she or won't she (gain/lose the weight again, that is) surrounding Jessica Simpson. |
BEYONCE Super Bowl half time show, Pepsi Ad, HBO documentary, new Destinys Child music, possible collaboration with JT and everything else imaginable. Can't. Be. Stopped. |
SHOPPING Target in Canada, hurrah! |
OBAMA INAUGURATION Only if Beyoncé is performing and Obama is being adorable with wifey and children. UPDATE: Beyonce has confirmed her performance, result! |
MUST HAVE APP Icon Pop Quiz, we've needed something new to occupy our time when travelling on public transit, waiting in insufferable lines and avoiding people. |
LIVING OUR BEST LIVES Getting in better shape and being more virtuous. |
Things We Loved in 2012
It's that time of year again kittens! Time to reflect profoundly about all your accomplishments and failures of yesteryear. Well, call us superficial, but really this comes down to reflecting upon our various cultural pursuits and surroundings. We present our favs of 2012:
STYLE
Leather accents: sleeves, skirts, tuxedo style trim, even fake leather sequins; everything goes. Also, still not over the denim shirt look and this year we even adopted patterned styles.
|
BOOKS
We loved both How to be a Woman by Caitlin Moran and Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn.
|
TELEVISION
After uncertainty in 2011 we caught up with Breaking Bad and Homeland, and stuck faithful during amazing seasons of Mad Men, Dexter. Plus great sophomore seasons of New Girl and Revenge.
|
MOVIES
Les Misérables, Pitch Perfect, Skyfall, Moonrise Kingdom, Argo and the underappreciated Jesse and Celeste Forever.
|
FAV ACTING STARS
Jennifer Lawrence and Joseph Gordon Levitt. These 2 are precious. Also Eddie Redmayne, too cute.
|
MUSIC
Frank Ocean, Taylor Swift, Mumford and Sons and the Civil Wars.
|
BEYONCE
The Tumblr, The Live at Roseland Concert DVD, performing with Jay-Z at the Barclays Centre, intimately revealing her private life through Instagram. We thank her greatly for the aforementioned, but it is still not enough.
|
FAMOUS BABY OBSESSIONS
Harper Beckham, Baby Blue, and of course the fictional Baby Sybbie.
|
SHOPPING
J. Crew lands in Canada! We snatched up blazers, boots and sweaters. And our dream swiftly became to live in a J. Crew catalogue.
|
LIFE SAVING APPS
Songza, Timeplay and Rocket Man, if you're not using these, you straight up cray.
|
TRAVEL (INTERNATIONAL)
Lauren took a Royal tour of Scotland and England (of course, it was the Jubilee year after all) and Caitlin visited her fantasy homelands of the Netherlands and Belgium; impressing locals with her language skills, but not with her footwear selection.
|
TRAVEL (DOMESTIC)
We each ventured out west this year to the ever-alluring Vancouver (impressed by the amount of Mexican cuisine available) as well as the not so alluring Winnipeg (not so impressed with the artic-like climate but made it onto the news!). Both experiences made us feel more in touch with our Canadian brethren.
|
Dreams Really Do Come True
She Was Here
Rihanna may believe that Beyoncé could 'destroy the self-esteem of an entire nation,' but yesterday Beyoncé wasn’t out to destroy anything, she was fully on board to recognize World Humanitarian Day. And this was truly a great day for humanity as it was also the premiere of her tie-in video for her song “I Was Here.”
The message is ahmahzing, the white dress is ahmahzing, Beyoncé is ahmahzing.
Did you pull as Queen B and do something good, somewhere, for someone else yesterday? She wants us to be good people, you should listen.
Bills, Bills, Bills
"You triflin', good for nothing type of brother
Silly me,why haven't I found another
A baller, when times get hard he's the one to help me out
insted of, a scrub like you who don't know what a man's about"
You know whose obviously no longer relating to these lyrics? Beyoncé Knowles. You know why, because she found her baller. Beyoncé and hubby Jay-Z are the world’s highest paid couple, according to Forbes Magazine. Combined income this year alone was $78 million (and they didn’t even have to shamelessly sell pictures of Baby Blue to make it happen, we’re looking at you Jessica Simpson.) That’s cray.
Now enjoy this excuse to look at photos of Bey and Jay.
