Looking at Girls in Magazines: Dunham Edition

Brooklyn wunderkind Lena Dunham is on the cover of Marie Claire UK's October issue. This spread shows her as FABULOUS and a well appointed trendster. This needs to be her go-to red carpet look. In the article she opens up about body issues...Hollywood is cruel...yadda yadda yadda...probably worth a read. We get annoyed with Hannah on Girls, but we really do love the show. It wouldn't be inappropriate to call us Lena Fangirls. She is making huge leaps forward in this photoshoot. Brava.

Memories of Bey

Our summer highlight was easily the Mrs. Carter tour, and, for your own sake, we truly hope it was able to be yours too. We were particularly overcome (naturally) when she glided towards us like out of a freaking dream. So how grand that we can all relive it together in this new video!

Watching this is guaranteed to brighten up your Wednesday!

P.S. Whoever is brave enough to propose to us should probably copy that guy and do so during Bey's next tour. Now that we've seen it, we want it. It might also be the only chance he's gonna have to come out ahead of Beyoncé on the Greatest-moments-of-our-lives scale.

Bey Good,

Looking at Boys in Magazines: Irish Love Affair Edition

If the following doesn't immediately evoke a need to pack up your finest of tailored jackets and move to the Irish countryside in pursuit of love, you've all got issues.

Daria Werbowy & Adam Driver are photographed by Annie Leibovitz for US Vogue September 2013. We love it.

BONUS: Adam Driver can also be seen in the new Gap ad campaign! Boy has caught the modelling bug. Or the fashion world has caught the Adam bug, har har.

This is real life hotnees people!

Friday links: Pretty Pretty Princess Edition

Well ladybugs, summer is almost over. It's a major drag, we know, but this weekend is supposed to a nice one (in Toronto)! We recommend getting out there and doing something fun that you have been putting off.

A few weeks ago we went to see the Christian Louboutin exhibit at the Design Exchange here in Toronto and it was great! There are lots of shoes to gush over and the various displays are well curated. The Miss Piggy Louboutins are to die! The exhibit is on until September 15, 2013.

Obviously it's every girl's unfulfilled fantasy to wear either Belle's, Cinderella's, or Snow White's signature gown. Isn't it? Well, wait no longer! Here's your chance to bid on real life designer Disney Princess gowns! Hurrah! From Vogue.co.uk: DISNEY and Harrods will auction off ten Princess-inspired dresses created by some of the world's most famous fashion houses, including Oscar de la Renta, Versace and Elie Saab. The sale will take place in November at Christie's, and will raise money for the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity.

Check out this spot-on "If Disney Princesses had Instagram" post. We laughed. We mocked. We self-mocked. We won't stop. Follow Caitlin! Follow Lauren!

In the spirit of fun, friendly, and famous cartoons from our youth, check out this groovy poster showing 50 cartoon characters. You could stare at it for hours. So. Much. Fun.

Happy Friday you guys!

Nostalgically yours,
us

Downton Abbey: Series 4 Stills

Pip pip! It's almost September so naturally we are gearing up for late weeknights and long weekend days of uninterrupted TV viewing. Yay!

To get us all positively rippling with anticipation, these promotional stills have been released! Baby Sybbie is looking pretty darn cute. She had better get some snappy one-liners, who doesn't love a British child voice?

Morning After: Teen Choice Awards

In between real awards shows, pro red carpet fashion critics (i.e. us) have to suck it up and review the brash, patterned and midriff-bearing. We didn't actually watch the Teen Choice Awards broadcast, mostly because we are firmly entrenched in our twenties and Sunday nights are for HBO, Showtime and AMC. See below for a brief but conclusive report. Note: We can't be bothered to name any of these youth stars. Sorry, but it's Monday, surely you can understand.

It's actually nice to see so much pattern on the RC, and we can appreciate the inclination to wear bold prints to such a low-stakes occasion. We especially love Hailey Steinfeld's fitted number.

We realize this is a trend that doesn't appear to be leaving any time soon, and is conveniently reserved for the young, but we just don't like it.

The Pitch Perfect crew is inexplicably off the mark. The lace dress is more than played out and doing it in shades of green is not bringing it back chicas. Rebel, you usually look pretty put together, why this? Why now?

Someone we're always happy to see: Max Greenfield. What a cutie-pie!

Handsome Fellas Playing Folk Music Together

This may come as a shock to some, but we've long thought that forming an all-girl folk band might be a great way to achieve fame, we're also pretty sure we'd kill it on the tambourine! When this dream comes into fruition let's be clear that we'll gladly become the first couple of folk music with any of the men featured in the Mumford and Sons Hopeless Wanderer video. Hint: they are surprisingly funnymen Ed Helmes, Jason Batemen, Will Forte and Jason Sudeikis!

The boys team up for a folk parody, so cut to us being obsessed because it is great. True, Will's beard is a tad Breaking Amish, but everything else is pin point! Where can we buy tickets for this concert tour?
