Familiar Faces: SAG Award Edition

Last nights SAG awards were a tiny bit lack luster and not just because Debbie Travis single-handedly ruined the first 45 minutes. However, it did offer two redeemable happenings that your television obsessed heart should be swooning over.

Here are the two great television reunions courtesy of the 18th Annual SAG Awards:

Morning After: Screen Actors BLUE Awards 2013

The SAG Awards happened last night in LA and let's get this out of the way right from the top: we have NEVER seen this much blue on a red carpet EVER. And WE LOVED IT. These hues are very flattering and perfectly seasonally appropriate. This phenomena will not go unnoticed and we predict ZERO blue dresses at the Academy Awards. So let us soak it up while we can! Amanda Seyfried takes top honor for us as best blue and best dressed (although we could have done without the necklace). She looks insanely glamourous in her Zac Posen gown.

Handsome Fellas Hanging Out: Volume 1

There's nothing better than when two (or more) of your fantasy boyfriends get together & hang out. Whether it be behind the scenes, on the red carpet or just a casual lunch, it sends the heart a flutter.

Here are Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake giggling like school girls on set for the 'Suit & Tie' music video:

Madness is Back.

AMC released a series of retro images promoting the upcoming season of Mad Men. And by the looks of things Betty Francis (formerly Draper) was truly the Jennifer Hudson of 1967. Weight Watchers really does work.

The new season premiers on April 7, 2013.

Looking at Boys in Magazines: Knits by Gosling Edition

Just in case your Wednesday needs a pick me up: Ryan Gosling likes to knit. Knit! Or so he tells Australian GQ, good god.

Once you've gathered yourself, please enjoy these images that accompany that ground breaking statement, as featured with the article.

The Morning After: The Inauguration 2013

For many of you last weekend was tough, as it didn’t conclude with an award show on Sunday. Thankfully, as a special treat, President Obama's second inauguration aired on Monday morning. Yes, at first we also thought it could be the Grammys (and that Bill Clinton had once again weaseled his way into a non-political event) but we swiftly realized that this was bigger and better.

Barack Obama took the oath of office for a second term; speaking a lot about freedom and moving forward. However, we couldn’t help but notice he forgot to be forward thinking enough to take time away from politikin, to remind his politico buddies that the event was more about fabulous outerwear than anything else. Let us review:

Kardashian Koncern

Last night Kourtney and Kim Kardashian took Miami amidst what felt like a sick joke. I only say this because the happenings on last night’s episode seemed ill-timed and very koncerning.

The episode, basically an hour-long Instagram session set to dialogue, focused on the arrival of Kim's kitten Mercy and her inability to care for anything other than herself. Ok, so this is koncerning for several reasons, but mainly because we’ve just found out that she is pregnant. Bad time to have us watch her not only struggle to take care of, but also misplace, an adorable kitten that she refers to as her child! (Spoiler alert: this kitten, sadly, has in fact met an untimely, and now suspicious, death and was last seen posthumously on the Kardashian Khristmas Kard).

Also koncerning is when Kanye West (gifter of the kitten, as well as father to be) kind of insisted that Kim name the pet after his song entitled Mercy; doesn’t bode well for the naming of the Kimye infant, but we can revisit this conversation when little Jesus Walks West is born.

Lastly, I think we should definitely be koncerned about Kim’s adoption of the phrase YOLO and not just because as a society we’ve decided to stop saying it. I worry she is misinterpreting only living once as an excuse to have one man's baby while still married to another -- yet another ill-timed situation of which Khloe continued to remind us last night.

All things considered, looks like a great season ahead. Should be interesting if the episode where Khloe excitedly finds out she is X-Factor co-host coincides with the confirmation that she is definitely fired from the show. May as well continue this genius-scheduling streak!

Dashingly yours,

Lauren

Looking at Girls in Magazines: Naomi in Vogue Australia

Naomi Watts has taken her talents over to Australian Vogue for their February 2013 issue. Since it's winter here and summer there, we need this beautius cover and spread to remind us of spring and sunshine and flowers blossoming. Winter is cool too, I guess.

As Seen on SJP: Volume 5

Say what you will about Sarah Jessica Parker, girl has it together when it comes to unconventional fashion. We see way too many dark and gloomy colours in winter so it's lovely to see some light and cool pastels, in floral ta boot!

Morning After: Golden Globes 2013

Last night's Golden Globes were delightful, purely because Amy Poehler and Tina Fey are simply the best hostesses ever. Our ladies were on fire and we’d like to demand that they host everything we watch/do from here on out (I am pretty sure the audience would agree as they were laughing just as hard at those zingers). As per the usual story, everyone tried to look pretty and have a good time (exceptions: Taylor Swift, Joaquin Phoenix, Tommy Lee Jones and a teleprompter who didn't), although we did furrow our brows at a few things and wanted more visuals from the Ben/J.Lo/Diddy triangle, we were mostly entertained. Here are our highlights:

Best-dressed girls: Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Couture, Michelle Dockery in Alexandre Vauthier

Worst dressed girls: Halle Berry in disaster, Sienna Miller in Erdem (errr...is right).

Best-dressed guys: Daniel Craig in Tom Ford (but, of course), Leonardo DiCaprio in unconfirmed, but sexy tux, and Eddie Redmayne looking divine.

Worst dressed guy: Robert Pattinson. We placed him with the losers only because he just looked like one all night. Skulking and drinking his Heineken solo. No offence to the actual custom clothing here.

Best couple(s): Emily Blunt in Elie Saab & John Krasinski and Ben Affleck & Jennifer Garner in Vivienne Westwood.

Worst couple(s): Nicole Kidman & Keith Urban and Jennifer Lopez & boy companion.

Best (and by best we mean worst) Lace: J. Lo in Zuhair Murad, Julie Louis Dreyfous in Vera Wang, Julianna Magulies in Puccini.

Best Olympic Sanctioned Ice Dancing Costumes: Kate Hudson in Alexander McQueen and J.Lo in Zuhair Murad

Best maternity, with new mom hair: Kristen Bell in Jenny Packham.

Possible meh, maternity: Anne Hathaway in Chanel (not pregnant but still.)

Best Wedding Party: Amanda Seyfried in Givenchy (bride) Lena Dunham in Zac Posen and Taylor Swift in Donna Karan (bridesmaids).

Best Look-a-Likes: Is Jeremy Irons actually Daniel Day Lewis with slight make-up application to age him?

Best Fan Girls: Jon Hamm clapping and looking elated after Girls wins Best TV Show & Daniel Craig high-fiving Adele. Cute as a freaking button.

Favourite moment: Amy Poehler creeping up on George Clooney!

Most awkward moment: Lena Dunham should have worn flats.

Most Annoying moment (also overall person): Ann Hathaway, your speech was nice, but too clearly researched and rehearsed and you didn’t have to use the Les Mis movie win to wrap it up. Know your moments.

Most endearing moment: Adele having her girls night out and acting genuinely humbled by the win.

Moment we wished had happened!: Audience V-Mars reunion with Kristen Bell, Amanda Seyried and Max Greenfield.

Goldenly yours,

Us
